Chapter 17

The Monster

When I wake in the morning, Ainsley is still sound asleep, wrapped in my arms. I knew what she wanted as soon as she asked to sleep in my bed last night, but I still can’t believe it actually happened. I feel like a giddy teenage boy that just got laid for the first time.

I gently slide out from under her, making sure not to wake her, and make my way into the bathroom. I smile the entire way through my shower, the weight of making her love me finally falling off of my shoulders. She finally gave in to me, finally stopped fighting her own feelings. I knew this would happen, and I couldn’t have picked a better time. When I bring her to the ball tomorrow, I’ll be able to introduce her as mine and she’ll be proud to be with me.

I slip the mask back over my wet hair after wrapping the towel around my waist and walk back into the bedroom to wake her. Except, when I walk in, my bed is empty. Ainsley is nowhere to be found, though the sheets are still warm from her. She must have gone back to her own room to get ready for the day.

I get dressed quickly, throw the towel back in the bathroom and walk to her bedroom. When I enter, I hear her shower running, and the bathroom door is cracked open.

“Ainsley?” I call out as I push the door open. She’s in the shower, steam enveloping her form, partially hiding her from my view. My cock grows in my jeans, wanting me to climb into the shower and claim her all over again, but I fight it. I’m sure she’s sore today; I wasn’t gentle with her.

When she doesn’t answer, I walk up to the door, making sure I’m in her line of sight. She’s just standing under the water, letting it wash over her body. She looks like she’s lost in her own thoughts.

“Ainsley?” I call out again. She startles as her eyes look up to meet mine. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” she reassures me quickly, though her answer sounds hollow. “Yeah, I’m, um. Yeah. I’m fine.”

It’s been a while since she’s seemed this unsure around me, putting me on guard immediately. What’s going through that pretty head of hers?

“I wanted to wake you up when I got out of the shower, but you were already gone,” I tell her. I make sure my eyes remain blank, not giving away the disappointment I felt when I found my bed empty. She takes a second to collect her thoughts before she answers me.

“I just needed a minute,” she says. “To, um, clean myself up.”

Even through the door, I can see her cheeks turn red at what she just said. My cock grows a little more at the idea of her covered in both of us, but I continue to ignore it.

It’s not so much how she said it, but what she said. Sometimes, she forgets just how well I know her.
